Vet Nurses

Push clinical expertise to another level. Students master advanced haemodynamic monitoring, ECG, capnography, and complex IVFT — alongside intensive patient nursing, critical nutrition support, and closed-loop team handovers. Supported by real case simulations and Royal Canin expert input, this module prepares senior nurses for confident decision-making in the most demanding clinical environments.

Key learning areas:

  • Perform advanced patient assessment including perfusion indicators, pulses, and urine output alongside PCV/TP and blood gas interpretation
  • Operate advanced monitoring equipment including invasive BP, ECG, and capnography
  • Calculate and manage complex IVFT including shock rates, boluses, CRIs, and transfusion monitoring
  • Set up and manage oxygen therapy for critically ill patients
  • Deliver intensive nursing care for recumbent patients including physiotherapy, catheter care, and hygiene management
  • Monitor and chart tube feeding and recognise enteral and parenteral nutrition indications
  • Calculate stress energy requirements and manage feeding complications including refeeding syndrome and aspiration risk
  • Build and rapidly update dynamic ECC nursing care plans across multiple concurrent problems
  • Lead structured team handovers using closed-loop communication and NAC SOC escalation standards
